Minot State University will host the fifth annual Northern Plains Philosophy Conference on Saturday, April 13. The event will take place in the newly renovated Hartnett Hall and will feature presentations from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Participants include philosophy students and faculty from Minot State, the University of North Dakota, the University of Mary, and North Dakota State University.

Raman Sachdev, an assistant professor of philosophy at Minot State, expressed enthusiasm about hosting the conference for the first time at MSU. "The conference will provide an outlet for students from multiple North Dakota institutions, including MSU, to showcase their research and learn from seasoned philosophy professors," he said. He also highlighted that the presentations would demonstrate philosophy's relevance to the university community.

Presenters include Jason Procka from Minot State; Isaac Roufs and John Paul Farrell from the University of Mary; Brandon Stariha from North Dakota State; Donald J. Bungum, associate professor at the University of Mary; Dennis Cooley, professor at North Dakota State; and Jack Russell Weinstein, professor at the University of North Dakota. Topics covered will range from machine suffering to ethics in classroom language use and empathy's relation to non-violence.

The conference is free and open to everyone interested in attending.

Minot State University is a public institution focused on education excellence through rigorous academics, active learning environments, public service commitment, and vibrant campus life.
