Minot State University has announced that Shaun Tyrance, a team clinician and vice president of player services and assessment for the Kansas City Chiefs, will be speaking at two events on campus. The events are scheduled for Monday, March 24.
Tyrance will first address MSU Athletics and staff in the Student Center Conference Center at 10:30 a.m., sharing insights from his experience with top NFL teams, coaches, and athletes. Later that day, he will present "Wellness and Keys to High Performance" at Ann Nicole Nelson Hall at 7 p.m. This evening event is open to students and the public.
Ralitsa Wierson, a student mental health counselor at Minot State, expressed enthusiasm about Tyrance's visit: “We are excited to welcome Dr. Tyrance to our campus and can’t wait to hear his message. Shaun’s experience with the highest level of professional athletics and his background in mental health counseling and wellness work will resonate with — not just our student-athletes — but all individuals from multiple backgrounds, interests, and age groups.”
Tyrance recently completed his sixth season with the Kansas City Chiefs following Super Bowl LIX. In May 2022, he was promoted to vice president of player services and assessment. His role involves focusing on behavioral health, wellness, and performance psychology for all club employees.
Before joining the Chiefs, Tyrance operated a private practice in Charlotte, North Carolina starting in 2010. He provided mental health counseling as well as leadership development and mental skills training to college and professional athletes. He has also worked with Fortune 500 companies on talent hiring and development.
Tyrance holds certifications as a mental performance consultant, has been published in periodicals, co-authored two books, played football for Davidson College where he was a four-year letter-winner and co-captain.
Both events are free due to sponsorship by MSU Athletics, the MSU POWER Center, and Minot State Student Affairs.
