Minot State FBLA triumphs at state leadership conference

Minot State University's Future Business Leaders of America — Collegiate (FBLA) chapter achieved notable success at the State Leadership Conference in Mandan on April 7-8. The chapter received the Dorothy L. Travis Outstanding Chapter Sweepstakes Award for the third year in a row, an accolade awarded to chapters with the highest total points from competitive events, state officers, and participation.

Eight members from Minot State attended the conference where they engaged in various activities including objective testing, presentation events, networking with business leaders, attending workshops, and completing a Community Service project at the Bismarck Ronald McDonald House.

The chapter's state officers for the 2023-2024 academic year included Mason Lemer as president, Alec Wolf as vice president, and Hailey Graner also serving as vice president. All members qualified for their competitive events at the upcoming National Leadership Conference scheduled for June 24-27 in Orlando, Florida.

Notable achievements by individual members were highlighted: Emma Taylor excelled in multiple categories including first place in Public Speaking; Hailey Graner secured top positions in team events; Melanie Segura performed strongly in accounting and presentations; Mason Lemer was recognized for his contributions to FBLA-Collegiate and took first place in several competitions; Alec Wolf achieved high rankings across different disciplines; Kyle Sandy succeeded in team presentations; Noah Schmidt won first place for his Entrepreneurship Pitch; Brendan Barnes earned top honors as a Future Business Educator.

The Minot State Chapter was acknowledged as the Largest Chapter in North Dakota and had the Highest Percentage of Retention in Membership from last year. Members Sarah Yeater, Lemer, Graner, and Wolf were named Minot State Who’s Who recipients. Adviser Jan Repnow was honored as North Dakota Outstanding FBLA-Collegiate Chapter Adviser and received recognition for five years of service.

For 2024-25, new state officers were elected with Wolf and Taylor set to serve as vice presidents on the executive board while Repnow will continue her role as North Dakota State Adviser.
