Minot State University has a notable faculty member in David Frantsvog, who has been part of the institution since 2015. Initially joining as an adjunct instructor, Frantsvog quickly transitioned to a full-time role by the following spring. He holds both an undergraduate degree in economics and a master's degree in management from Minot State.

Frantsvog's commitment to his alma mater is evident through his involvement in various activities, including the Risk Management Association's Credit Analysis Competition. "In this competition, students from MSU compete against other regional universities in North Dakota, Minnesota, and Manitoba," he explained. The event requires students to analyze financial information and make risk-based credit decisions.

Reflecting on his choice to attend Minot State as a student, Frantsvog cited factors such as degree options, cost, and career opportunities after graduation. "Minot State University was a smart choice for me as it met all my personal criteria," he said.

His academic journey at Minot State led him to pursue a bachelor's degree in economics. "After a lot of research, pursuing an economics degree was the right fit for me," Frantsvog noted.

Frantsvog's diverse work history spans banking, healthcare, and the oil and gas industry. His decision to teach at Minot State was influenced by his brother Dean Frantsvog’s positive experiences there. "His guidance and mentorship were instrumental in my decision to teach in higher education," he stated.

Beyond teaching, Frantsvog contributes to the College of Business Looyenga Leadership Institute by advising students on leadership projects that benefit both university students and community members.

When asked about advice for students considering degrees in accounting and finance, Frantsvog emphasized their value: "Money is everywhere. When people have a better understanding of accounting and financial principles, they are well-equipped to make better financial decisions."

Outside of work, Frantsvog enjoys spending time with his family and engaging in hobbies like carpentry and tinkering with cars. He shared that life is full of unique opportunities: "Dream big, work hard, and don't stop until you get there."

Minot State University remains committed to providing quality education through rigorous academic experiences and active learning environments.
