Today, we congratulate Debbie Swanson on her retirement and thank her for 38 years of service with Grand Forks Public Health. In that time, she has built a reputation as one of our most passionate public health advocates. She is a champion for public health, a model of integrity, and leads by example. Since beginning her career at Grand Forks Public Health in 1985, Debbie has served in various roles and led many health initiatives. One such initiative was the Alliance for Healthcare Access project, which led to the opening of the federally qualified health center, Spectra, which has provided access to care for many community members. Highlights in Debbie's career include working in tobacco prevention advocating for smoke-free air, her involvement in various coalitions, and her continued work on Community Health Assessment to identify the community's health needs and work towards improving health outcomes. Debbie's leadership skills guided the Grand Forks community and Public Health through the COVID-19 pandemic. Please join us in wishing Debbie all the best in her retirement!
