The University of North Dakota (UND) will host its annual Homecoming Week from September 15 to 20, 2025. The week includes a series of events leading up to the Fighting Hawks football game against Valparaiso University at the Alerus Center on Saturday, September 20.
A range of activities are planned throughout the week. These include a Homecoming Parade along University Avenue before the football game, and several other campus traditions. UND’s Alumni Association & Foundation has posted a full schedule of events online, and updates can also be found on the UND Events Calendar.
Constitution Day, which commemorates the signing of the U.S. Constitution in 1787, falls within Homecoming Week this year on September 17. The university will hold several events that day, including a naturalization ceremony in the Memorial Union. All Constitution Day activities are open to members of the campus community.
UND is again partnering with the Grand Forks Downtown Development Association for a Wednesday evening pep rally in Town Square. Food trucks will be available from 5 to 6 p.m., followed by remarks at 6:15 p.m. from President Andy Armacost and football coach Eric Schmidt. The event will also feature performances by the Pride of the North Marching Band and UND Cheer and Dance teams, as well as yard games and giveaways.
The annual Alumni Honors Banquet will take place at the Alerus Center on Thursday, September 18. Eight alumni will be recognized for their achievements: Phil Gisi, Jill (Erickson) Newby, Dr. John Gray, Karen Schmidt-Gray, Dave Hakstol, Lisa Persuitti-Huber, Dr. Michael Greenwood, and Hunter Pinke.
A groundbreaking ceremony for a new STEM Complex is scheduled for Friday, September 19. This facility is intended to enhance science, technology, engineering and mathematics education at UND by fostering collaboration and innovation among students preparing for careers in these fields in North Dakota and beyond. The ceremony begins at 1:30 p.m., with remarks from university leadership and refreshments provided afterward. The event will take place on the former Hyslop Sports Center grounds across from Abbott Hall.
Shortly after this groundbreaking event on September 19, an iconic campus structure will also celebrate its grand opening.
"Go Hawks!"
