The University of North Dakota (UND) has announced that its faculty and staff now have access to Deque University's digital accessibility courses. This initiative, first revealed in May, is part of UND's effort to comply with upcoming federal digital accessibility requirements under Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act, which will take effect in April 2026.
Employees can log into Deque University using their UND email and password. Those at the Energy & Environmental Research Center without a @UND.edu address must submit a ticket to UIT for access. Detailed login instructions are available on the Equal Opportunity & Title IX website.
Deque University offers training on web accessibility fundamentals and document formatting for tools like Microsoft Word, Excel, and PDF. All users have access to Deque’s full curriculum by default, but UND has developed custom learning pathways that employees can subscribe to as needed.
One recommended course for all employees is the “Fast Track for Any Role,” which provides an overview of key terms and concepts related to digital content accessibility. The modules are video-based, typically lasting one to three minutes each.
For those experiencing login issues or lacking course access after logging in, support is available via helpdesk@deque.com or Beth Valentine at beth.valentine@UND.edu.
Additionally, UND’s Teaching Transformation & Development Academy continues to offer workshops and training sessions on best practices and instructional design. A dedicated webpage also provides resources for creating accessible content.
