Dr. Yvonne Cannon, an Associate Professor at Mayville State University, will deliver the commencement address on May 16. Dr. Cannon has been in education for thirty-six years and holds multiple degrees, including a Ph.D. in Teacher Education obtained in 2022. She is also set to receive a Master of Education in Adult Teaching and Learning from Mayville State University.

Current graduates Mackenzie Hughes and Connor Fields, both from Thompson, N.D., will speak on behalf of the graduating class. Board member Dr. Casey Ryan will offer greetings from the State Board of Higher Education.

During the ceremony, two alumni will be recognized for their contributions. Terry Bachmeier from Mesa, Ariz., will receive an honorary Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Science for his dedication to personal service. Robert Berg, a 1970 graduate who was unable to attend his original commencement due to military service, will participate this year.

The graduation day festivities include a brunch hosted by the MSU Alumni Association at 10 a.m. in the Campus Center Luckasen Room. Graduate Grant Kocher from Crosby, N.D., will speak on behalf of the MSU Class of 2025 during this event.

Grant Kocher is graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree with majors in accounting and business administration and a specialization in banking and finance. He has been active in student government and athletics during his time at Mayville State.

Mackenzie Hughes is completing her Bachelor of Science degree with a major in business administration and specializations in banking and finance and management. She has been recognized as an NAIA Daktronics Scholar Athlete among other honors.

Connor Fields has earned his Bachelor of Science degree with a major in business administration, minor in sports management, and specialization in management. He has been involved with Collegiate DECA and served as a student football coach.
