The UND Department of Theatre Arts is set to close its 2024-25 season with "Unrehearsed Shakespeare," featuring performances on three consecutive nights, each focusing on a different Shakespearean play. The performances, which promise unpredictability and new experiences, will take place at Burtness Theatre.
"Unrehearsed Shakespeare" will showcase "Taming of the Shrew" on April 24, "Macbeth" on April 25, and "Twelfth Night" on April 26, all beginning at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are priced at $25 for adults and $15 for students, seniors, and military personnel with identification. Student military members can attend for free with ID.
Guest director Bill Kincaid leads the production, utilizing a unique approach where cast members enter each performance without prior knowledge of their roles. "Kincaid’s technique, layered into Shakespearean text, informs actors where to go and what to do and often encourages light audience participation," reads a statement about the technique.
The production involves UND's students, faculty, and staff, who aim to offer unique entertainment with a fresh perspective on Shakespeare's work. The team includes Director Bill Kincaid as the guest artist, Assistant Director Emily Wirkus, and other professionals in various roles such as stage management, costume design, and technical direction.
"Whether you come for your favorite or check out all three, rest assured each performance will offer something that’s never been done before," stated the department. The production features various crew members, including assistant directors, stage managers, and costume designers.
Tickets are available through the UND Department of Theatre Arts' Box Office.
