Members of the University of North Dakota (UND) and the Greater Grand Forks community are invited to attend Disability Awareness Day on March 17. The event will take place from 9 a.m. to noon on the second floor of the Memorial Union.

This is the second year for Disability Awareness Day, which aims to provide a platform for understanding disability and interacting with professionals in this field. UND students engaged in research related to disability will present their projects and be available for discussions.

“Disability Awareness Day is all about focusing on the impact of disability in the community, both on campus and off,” said Lee Ann Rawlins Williams, clinical assistant professor of Education, Health & Behavior, who is organizing the event. “This day offers a chance for us to come together and have meaningful conversations that foster understanding of the impact disability has on people’s lives.”

The Inclusive Rehabilitation Sciences program within UND’s College of Education & Human Development is presenting the event. Attendees can engage with students presenting their research through poster presentations and are encouraged to ask questions.

Groups from both UND and the broader Grand Forks area will participate, including organizations such as the North Dakota Brain Injury Network, LISTEN Center, and North Dakota Association for the Disabled. In total, more than 40 student and professional groups are expected to attend.

For those traveling from off-campus, parking is available at the ramp located at University Avenue and North Columbia Road. Visitors can park on the first floor using Passport parking services via an app or website. Further details about Passport parking are available on Campus Services' website.
