On January 22, the University of North Dakota (UND) hosted a virtual Town Hall meeting for faculty and staff via Zoom. The event covered various topics, including new appointments, legislative updates, enrollment trends, and more.

President Armacost introduced Dr. Marjorie Jenkins as the newly appointed vice president for Health Affairs and dean of UND School of Medicine & Health Sciences. Provost Eric Link discussed ongoing searches for deans at the College of Engineering & Mines and the School of Law.

Vice Provost Karyn Plumm welcomed Breeann Flesch as director of Essential Studies. President Armacost also provided an update on the North Dakota legislative session.

Janelle Kilgore, vice provost for strategic enrollment management, addressed UND's enrollment figures and trends. Athletic Director Bill Chaves informed attendees about new head coaches being hired for football and women's soccer programs.

The Town Hall included several questions from participants. Topics ranged from support for LGBTQ-plus community members to concerns about annual raises compared to cost-of-living increases. Questions also touched on potential student enrollment caps and availability of classes during registration periods.

Other issues raised included job security in light of political changes, recent federal actions regarding DEI employees, university responses to severe weather events, guidance for international students facing detentions or travel issues, challenges in filling faculty positions, advisor availability amid growing enrollment numbers, remote work policies post-pandemic, status updates on campus facilities like Gamble and Columbia Halls, infrastructure projects planned for spring and summer seasons, evaluation processes for university leadership positions such as vice presidents and the president himself.

Additionally discussed were improvements needed within UND’s website search engine functionality along with shuttle service utilization strategies across campus locations; plans concerning vacant
