The University of North Dakota's AI and Human Innovation Initiative has announced its inaugural AI and Human Innovation Showcase, scheduled for February 28 at UND. The event is seeking proposals for projects that demonstrate new models of how artificial intelligence can collaborate with human efforts in educational, research, creative, and community settings.

The showcase will focus on projects that enhance human connection or articulate the human experience, impact social or community change, foster creative endeavors, solve interdisciplinary problems, or improve understanding of the human-AI interface. Eligible submissions are welcome from a variety of areas including teaching initiatives, research projects, creative activities, community outreach programs, collaborations between towns and universities, as well as interdisciplinary efforts.

Submissions can range from conceptual to fully implemented projects. It is important for applicants to specify if AI was used in creating the proposal or any part of the presentation. A balance of disciplines and project types is sought after for this showcase. Faculty members, staff, students, and community members are all encouraged to participate. Presenters must be available to attend the event in person.

Proposals can be presented in two formats: either as a poster presentation or stationary visual display; or through an "AI in Action Lightning Round," which consists of brief presentations limited to five minutes. Only eight submissions will be selected for this latter format.

To submit a proposal, participants should include the project title, presenter names and affiliations, a project abstract (maximum 75 words), a detailed project description (maximum 250 words), an explanation of how the project addresses the showcase focus areas, and their preferred presentation format.

Key dates include a submission deadline on January 15 and notification of acceptance by January 31. The showcase itself will take place on February 28.
