Minot State honors employees at annual recognition event

Minot State University recently held its annual Retirement and Recognition event at Ann Nicole Nelson Hall, where it honored several employees for their contributions during the 2023-24 academic year. The ceremony recognized retirees, years of service, and award recipients.

Three faculty members received the University's Board of Regents Award in various categories: Kathy Hintz for service, MariDon Sorum for teaching, and Laura Zucca-Scott for scholarship. Two staff members from the Center for Extended Learning, Linda Conn and Jolina Miller, were also honored with this award.

The Distinguished Lifetime Educators Award was given to Linda Pettersen and Linda Schaefer from the MSU Nursing Program. Krystal St. Peter was named Outstanding New Academic Advisor, while Holly Pedersen was recognized as the 2023-24 Outstanding Academic Adviser.

Retirees from Minot State include individuals from various departments such as Graduate School and business information technology, math and computer science, facilities management, science, art and professional communication among others.

Additionally, eleven employees were acknowledged for earning degrees or certifications in 2023-24. These achievements spanned fields like accounting and finance, nursing practice, educational leadership and practice, design and print services management among others.

The Staff Senate High Five Award winners were announced throughout the year from April 2023 to March 2024. These included Vicki McDonald in enrollment services to Brian Otto in facilities management.

Service awards were distributed based on years of dedication ranging from five to forty years. Notably honored with forty years of service were Lynda Bertsch at the Academic Support Center and Donna Weishaar at NDCPD.

Minot State University continues its commitment to education excellence through these recognitions as part of its vibrant campus life dedicated to public service.
