The Minot State University Looyenga Leadership Center has announced the 2024 Women's Leadership Conference and Career Fair, set to take place on April 6 in Swain Hall's third-floor atrium.

"Women’s leadership can be overshadowed at times, so the purpose of this event is to shine a light," said Lafayette Bade, a graduate assistant at the Looyenga Leadership Center and co-founder of the event. "What better way to finish women’s history month than to bring in some of Minot’s most influential women to inspire and empower students on the Minot State University campus and in the Minot community."

The conference will run from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m., with a free lunch provided. Attendees are encouraged to register beforehand to ensure adequate food and seating.

Scheduled speakers include Terry Eckmann, an MSU professor of kinesiology; Brenda K. Foster, CEO of First Western Bank & Trust; Jessica Smestad, director of the MSU Honors program; and McKenna Gudmunson, founder of 701 Realty and 701 Healthcare Solutions and part owner of Whisky Nine.

Courtenay Brekhus, Minot State Director of Alumni Engagement, will emcee the event. "We are incredibly lucky to have Brenda, Terry, McKenna, and Jess share their time and talents with Minot State students," Brekhus stated. "These women are positive, powerful leaders and role models in our community, and I’m honored to be part of an event that will empower our students to make the most of their opportunities and become influential leaders."

In addition to speaker sessions, a women's career fair will be held throughout the day. The Looyenga Leadership Center invites attendees to join a growing community focused on inspiring women's leadership. Participants can explore various career paths and potentially secure jobs from local businesses led by female owners.

Minot State University is committed to providing excellence in education through rigorous academic experiences, active learning environments, public service dedication, and vibrant campus life.
