The Minot State University Association of Undergraduate Geologists in Industry, Technology, and Education (AUGITE) Geology Club is set to host its annual professional speaker series over the next four months. The series aims to engage both the campus and local community with insights into geology.
The first event will take place on February 16 at 6 p.m. in Hoffmann Auditorium, located within the Cyril Moore Science Center. John-Paul Martin from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association (NOAA) is scheduled to speak. His lecture will address NOAA's role and functions, providing updates on spring weather outlooks, including flood risks and drought conditions. Attendees can also expect simple experiments and a brief Q&A session.
This initiative marks the return of the speaker series after a pause due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The club seeks to reinvigorate interest in geology through these educational sessions. Pizza will be available while supplies last, and the event is free for all attendees.
The Minot State Geology Club is actively working to secure more speakers for future events throughout this semester and into the next academic year. Updates on the series can be followed through club announcements.
Minot State University emphasizes excellence in education, scholarship, and community engagement through rigorous academics, active learning environments, public service commitment, and a lively campus life.
