Fraud awareness seminar set at Minot State University

Minot State University will host a Fraud Awareness Seminar featuring Jacob Rued, a fraud investigator from First Western Bank & Trust. The event is scheduled for Thursday, February 22, at the Minot State Student Center Conference Center. A social gathering will begin at 4 p.m., followed by the seminar at 4:30 p.m.

KateLynn Albers, MSU assistant professor of accounting, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration with First Western Bank & Trust. "Minot State is excited to partner with First Western Bank & Trust to bring this fraud prevention and detection seminar to the MSU Campus," she said. She emphasized that the event aims to provide practical knowledge and enhance financial literacy among attendees.

Jacob Rued, who previously served as a financial crimes detective with the Fargo Police Department, will lead the seminar. He focuses on educating community members about modern fraud tactics and effective prevention strategies.

Brenda K. Foster, president and CEO of First Western Bank & Trust, highlighted the importance of such educational initiatives. "We are thrilled to partner with Minot State to raise awareness about fraud prevention," she stated. Foster praised Rued's background in law enforcement and financial crime detection and looked forward to his contribution to the Minot community.

The seminar is free and open to the public, but seating is limited. Interested individuals must register by Monday, February 19.
