Amanda Duchsherer, who previously served as a digital communication specialist at Minot State University, has transitioned to the role of administrative coordinator for both the Minot State Advancement Department and the MSU Development Foundation. Her former position required her to work across three departments, developing a diverse skill set.
In her new role, Duchsherer supports various functions such as budget tracking, event assistance, and serving as a liaison for alumni and donors. She expressed enthusiasm about witnessing philanthropy in action: "The generosity and passion of Minot State’s alumni and friends is unbelievable...witnessing this philanthropy in real time is inspiring and humbling."
Reflecting on her initial days with advancement during the Annual Excellence campaign, she noted it was an immediate demonstration of community support. "This immediate showing of community generosity positively set the tone for my career shift," she said.
Duchsherer's journey at Minot State began in 2018 when she joined as a Digital Content Specialist. She credited several individuals for giving her the opportunity despite feeling underqualified: "I give credit to Michael Linnell...Teresa (Kraft) Loftesnes ’07/’15...and Nicole Thom-Arens...for taking a chance on me."
Her responsibilities included writing features about university members and managing content across various platforms. A memorable moment was being encouraged by Cole Krueger to research and write marketing content.
Duchsherer also shared insights from her student years at MSU, emphasizing personal growth and skill development that shaped her career path. Her decision to return to MSU was influenced by personal circumstances involving family connections.
Outside of work, Duchsherer values family time with her husband Joe Duchsherer and their two sons. They manage 4 Acres Welding & Fabrication, Inc., where she handles office duties. In leisure moments, she enjoys reading, live music, traveling, and dining locally.
She highlighted the importance of community support during challenging times: "Our family has experienced a lot of stress...and I’ll forever be grateful for the support we’ve received from others."
Minot State University remains committed to providing quality education through active learning environments and public service engagement.
