Minot State University is organizing an AI for Teachers Workshop aimed at high school and middle school educators. The workshop, scheduled for June 26 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., will take place in Hartnett Hall on the MSU Campus. Participants will be provided with lunch and snacks, and no prior experience with artificial intelligence is required.

The course will be led by Minot State faculty members Nigel George, associate professor of physics, and Daren Erisman, assistant professor of computer science. "As teachers at Minot State, we’re watching our own students and colleagues struggling to make good use of this new generation of artificial intelligence," the professors stated. "We’ve discovered a number of helpful tools and strategies that can make mundane tasks easier while assisting in our teaching and working with students who have many ideas on how to use these advances."

Participants will also have the opportunity to earn one free continuing education credit through Minot State and receive a complimentary copy of “The Ultimate Guide to AI in Education” by Fitzpatrick, Fox, and Weinstein. The Dakota Digital Academy sponsors the event.

The workshop sessions will cover topics such as understanding generative AI, hands-on exploration of AI tools, optimizing workflow through generative AI for efficiency, and building an AI toolkit with resources for future steps.

For those interested in attending or seeking more information about the class, registration details are available online.

Minot State University is committed to providing excellence in education through rigorous academic experiences and active learning environments.
