Minot State University seniors Madison Bergrude, Hailee Fletcher, and Keegan Henjum are set to begin their nursing careers at Trinity Health. All three students have chosen to follow in the footsteps of family members who are nurses.
Bergrude will work in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). "I chose Trinity Health because of the great experiences I had during my clinicals for school," she said. Fletcher and Henjum will be joining the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Fletcher noted that Trinity's large service region offers numerous learning opportunities: "There are many opportunities that drew me to Trinity Health, such as the First Response Wings Academy." Henjum highlighted Trinity's level 2 trauma center status: "The ICU at Trinity offers a wide range of critical nursing opportunities."
The trio was inspired by their mothers' long careers in nursing. "I am a second-generation nursing graduate," Henjum said. Bergrude shared, "My mom has been a NICU nurse for 22 years." Fletcher also credited her family: "My mom, Erica Jundt-Erck, and my grandmother, Elaine Jundt, are both nurses."
Their education at Minot State prepared them well for this next step. "Minot State combines several learning modalities to assist in developing knowledge, skills, and confidence," Henjum stated. Fletcher added that her experiences there helped prepare her for her new role.
