Anabel Noches, originally from Pomona, California, has pursued her academic and athletic career at Minot State University in Minot, North Dakota. As a first-generation college student and a member of the women’s soccer team, Noches sought new experiences that would foster personal growth.
“I decided to come here as a freshman because I wanted to experience something new,” she explained. “I am far from home, but they said I will be able to grow here and enhance my skills athletically and academically.”
Noches is majoring in corporate fitness and wellness management with a minor in coaching. Her focus is on helping others achieve their physical potential and lead healthier lives. The support from faculty and peers at Minot State has been crucial in her journey. She credits them for providing state-of-the-art equipment and opportunities for hands-on learning, which contributed to her being named to the 2023 VPAA and Engagement honor roll.
“My professors and peers have been super helpful and showed me that they are willing to help with equipment, class material, and give us opportunities to do more in our field of work,” she said.
As a student-athlete, Noches played 71 games for the Beavers over four seasons, scoring four goals with six assists. In 2019 alone, she scored two game-winning goals. Her passion for staying active extended beyond soccer as she also participated in intramural sports like volleyball and basketball.
“I have always been someone who likes to stay active,” Noches remarked.
Looking toward the future, Noches hopes to continue playing soccer or explore roles such as performance coach or personal trainer while maintaining her commitment to wellness.
“I would love to keep playing soccer in my future journey,” she stated. “It has always been a passion of mine, and if I could get the chance to keep playing, I would do that.”
As she prepares for graduation from Minot State University, Anabel Noches carries with her knowledge and ambition for the next phase of her life.
