Achille Tenekeu Djauken, a student at Minot State University, has centered his academic journey around research and aims to pursue a career in pharmaceutical sciences. To achieve this goal, he stepped out of his comfort zone by enhancing his writing skills through involvement with the University Communications team. "During this last year of undergraduate studies, I decided that I didn’t only want to keep doing research, but I also wanted to contribute to the publication of research findings," he explained.
Originally planning to graduate in December, Tenekeu Djauken chose to extend his studies into the spring semester by adding a concentration in computer science. "Adding a concentration in computer science complements my background in environmental science and chemistry," he noted.
His undergraduate research primarily focused on environmental science and chemistry. The small class sizes and hands-on approach at MSU contributed significantly to his positive lab experiences. "Overall, my undergraduate research experience was gratifying," he stated.
Tenekeu Djauken's projects included water quality assessment and environmental chemistry in freshwater ecosystems. His work involved fieldwork for sample collection, laboratory analysis, and data interpretation. He expressed satisfaction with the practical experience gained during his studies.
Originally from Douala, Cameroon, Tenekeu Djauken selected Minot State for its affordability when deciding to study in the United States. Reflecting on his time there, he shared, "I leave with fond memories and a deep appreciation for all this school has offered me."
Minot State University is known for its commitment to education excellence through rigorous academics and community engagement.
