The North Dakota softball team will play a three-game series against the Kansas City Roos starting Friday, April 11, at the Kansas City Softball Field. The games are scheduled for Friday at 5 p.m., Saturday at noon, and Sunday at 11 a.m., with coverage available on the Summit League Network.
This matchup marks the 25th meeting between North Dakota and Kansas City. The Roos currently lead the all-time series 13-11, but North Dakota has won six of the last eight meetings. In their most recent encounter on April 6, 2025, North Dakota secured a win with a score of 4-1.
North Dakota enters the series with an overall record of 22-14 and is seeking its first conference win after dropping three games to South Dakota State from March 28 to March 30. Despite those losses, the Fighting Hawks have won 19 of their last 26 games and have maintained a .298 batting average during that stretch.
Kansas City holds a season record of 12-21 and is currently ranked outside the top-300 nationally in home runs, having hit only two this season—both by Megan Johnson. Leilani Bustamante leads her team in batting average at .317 while Delilah Robles has posted a team-best earned run average (ERA) of 3.48 and ranks second in innings pitched within the Summit League.
Several individual performances stand out for North Dakota ahead of this weekend’s contests. Jaedyn Valdez is third in batting average within the Summit League (.395) and has hit safely in four consecutive games. Katelyn Neumayer has reached base safely over seven straight games, while Chloe Bethune’s streak stands at six games. Tehya Armstrong threw nearly seven innings without allowing a run during last year’s win over Kansas City.
Both teams have shown strong defensive efforts recently; neither side has scored more than four runs in any of their last seven meetings. The Fighting Hawks are also notable for their success when scoring first (15-1) or recording more hits than opponents (15-0). Tegan Livesay and Unity Nelson are among league leaders in wins with nine and eight respectively.
