North Dakota track and field was represented by 11 distance runners at the Duke Twilight on May 3, with athletes competing in six different events.
The meet is significant for North Dakota as several runners achieved personal bests and high conference rankings. These performances come just before the team heads into its final competitions ahead of the conference championships.
In the women’s 800-meter run, Brooklyn Brouse finished seventh in her section with a time of 2:08.37, placing her 23rd overall. Gabriella Ruggeri ran a time of 2:10.60, finishing sixth in her heat and moving to seventh in the conference this season. On the men’s side, Aleksa Milanovic finished third in his heat with a time of 1:50.66, which placed him eighth in the conference standings, while Till Woldrich took sixth in his section.
Olivia Correale posted a time of 4:22.02 for fourth place in her heat and nineteenth overall in the women’s 1500-meter run. Katherine Rogers also competed in that event with a finish of ninth place in her heat. In men’s competition, Louis-Lys Fanucchi completed his race with a time of 3:43.58.
Henrik Lindstrot had North Dakota’s highest individual finish at third place overall in the men’s 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 8:50.61.
The women’s 5000-meter run featured standout performances from Shewaye Johnson (16:08.64), Frida Giersdorff (16:18.60), and Marie-Louise Jorgensen (16:23.55). All three set new personal records and moved up among UND’s all-time top ten times for this event.
According to post-meet notes released by North Dakota track and field staff, “Three new UND Top 10 times were collected on the day, all from the women’s 5000-meter run.” The team now holds six out of ten top Summit League marks for this event so far this season.
North Dakota will compete next at Hillsdale Last Chance on May 6 followed by NDSU Tune-Up on May 8.
