Minot State University, in collaboration with the MSU Development Foundation, is set to host the seventh annual Giving Day on April 9, 2025. This one-day online event aims to bring together the university’s alumni, friends, students, faculty, and staff to make contributions towards various causes they value. As an incentive, the foundation will match 50% of all gifts up to $1,000, further supplemented by donor-funded challenges that release additional funds.

“Giving Day at Minot State has become a significant annual tradition for the campus and our many alumni, supporters, employees, and students,” stated Minot State President Dr. Steven Shirley. He added, “We are so grateful each year for the thousands of friends who help make this event so meaningful for MSU, and we are very much looking forward to a successful and impactful Giving Day 2025!”

The event provides an opportunity for different programs to highlight essential needs such as student scholarships, equipment upgrades, and enhanced student experiences. This year, the event will spotlight 57 projects across a variety of academic and athletic initiatives.

In a show of continued support, Subway of Minot will offer a free lunch to donors participating in the MSU Giving Day. The complimentary meal, consisting of a Subway sandwich, chips, and a drink, will be available from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., or until supplies last.

Over the past six iterations, MSU Giving Day has successfully raised nearly $1.8 million supporting over 349 projects, with contributions coming from all 50 states and various countries. Rick Hedberg, MSU vice president for advancement and MSU Development Foundation executive director, remarked, “Minot State University’s Giving Day is a powerful reminder of how collective support can transform lives and elevate the MSU community.”

The Giving Day festivities are scheduled to commence at 12:01 a.m. and will continue until 11:59 p.m. on April 9 (CDT). The MSU Development Foundation is calling for enthusiastic participation and engagement from its community, and encourages the use of the hashtag #MSUGivingDay on social media to promote the event.

More details about the event and specific projects can be found on the MSU Giving Day website, Give.MinotStateU.edu. For additional inquiries, MSU Director of Foundation Operations Kate Marshall can be contacted via email or at (701) 858-4158.

Minot State University prides itself on its commitment to excellence in education, scholarship, and community involvement, achieved through comprehensive academic experiences and a dynamic campus life.
