Five students from Minnesota currently attending the University of North Dakota (UND) shared their experiences and reasons for choosing UND over in-state options. The students discussed various aspects that prospective students might consider, such as the appeal of UND compared to other schools, handling the cold winters, and life in residence halls.

The conversation was part of a video produced by the UND team, which features both a full hourlong version and a shorter three-minute abridged version. In this video, the students address several questions about their decision-making process and experiences at UND.

Some of the topics covered include how they first learned about UND and what influenced their decision to attend. They also talk about their hometowns and high schools’ sizes, offering insight into how these factors played a role in their choice.

The video further explores common concerns like the harsh winter climate at UND and what activities are available in Grand Forks. Students compare similarities between UND and their hometowns while highlighting notable professors, study spots on campus, affordability issues, student organizations they participate in, favorite memories or experiences at UND, and whether living in residence halls is worthwhile.

Finally, they offer advice for incoming students from Minnesota who may be considering making the same transition to becoming Fighting Hawks.
