President Andrew Armacost and Dean Brad Rundquist of the College of Arts & Sciences recently highlighted the features of the newly reopened Merrifield Hall in a video message. The building, which has undergone a two-year renovation project, is now open for instruction.

Rundquist reflected on his experiences teaching geography courses in the third-floor lecture hall and expressed appreciation for the building’s transformation. He noted that some original elements like brass door entryways, staircases, and reading nooks have been preserved.

The renovation aimed to enhance functionality and accessibility within the nearly century-old structure. Updates include an eastern entryway, an elevator, and reconfigured classroom layouts. New classrooms are equipped with advanced teaching technologies, and a café has been introduced to support active language learning.
