Mayville State University invites public to meet coaching candidates for new sports programs

Mayville State University announced on April 6 that the public is invited to meet candidates for upcoming head coaching positions, including a new women’s flag football program set to begin in the Fall Semester of 2026. Tim Salmon, a candidate for the head coach position, will participate in an on-campus interview and host a meet and greet event at 2:30 p.m. on April 8 in the Mayville State Classroom Building Auditorium.

The addition of women’s flag football marks an expansion of varsity sports offerings at Mayville State University. The event gives community members an opportunity to engage with Salmon and learn more about his background as well as plans for developing the new program.

Salmon is currently serving as an assistant football coach at Mayville State University, where he has contributed to recruiting efforts, film analysis, skill development, practice coordination, and game planning. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in fitness and wellness with a coaching minor from Mayville State University in 2025. As a student athlete at Mayville State, Salmon was recognized as a standout quarterback who served four times as team captain, received two All-Conference selections, and was named an NAIA All-American.

Another candidate mentioned is Bolstad, who brings over fourteen years of basketball coaching experience across various collegiate levels and high schools. She specializes in defensive coordination and player development while currently working as assistant women’s basketball coach at Cleveland (Ohio) State University.
