Junior defenseman Abram Wiebe has signed a two-year, entry-level contract with the Calgary Flames, the organization announced on Apr. 10. Wiebe is set to join the team immediately and is expected to make his National Hockey League debut on Saturday night in Seattle.

Wiebe played three seasons with the Fighting Hawks, appearing in 118 games without missing a single contest during his collegiate career. Over that span, he recorded 10 goals and 53 assists for a total of 63 points.

In his most recent season, Wiebe achieved a personal best by tallying 29 points—leading all University of North Dakota blueliners—and posted a plus-13 rating. The organization noted that these 29 points are tied for the second highest by a NoDak defenseman over the past eight years and earned him All-National Collegiate Hockey Conference Second Team honors this season.
